Acolyte Training & Ice Cream Party

Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 11:45am

After Sunday morning worship on October 4, we will be having our annual acolyte training.  This is offered annually each fall.  This training is intended both for those who have not yet served as an acolyte and as a refresher for those who perhaps have been serving as acolytes for years.  Plus, we hope that our seasoned, older youth will come to help our newest and youngest youth.
After training in the sanctuary we will go down to the Fellowship Hall to enjoy ice cream.  The acolyte training is intended for 5th - 12th graders.  Siblings and parents/guardians are very much invited to share in the ice cream party.
Although registering in advance is not required, we encourage you to sign up beforehand, to help us to plan for enough ice cream.  You can sign up by: (1) using the sign up sheet in the narthex; (2) e-mailing the church office at office@sprucc.org; or (3) calling the office at 610-621-5770.

New & Refresher Missional Workshop

Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm

Previously:
Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm
Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 9:00-11:00am

Beginning in 2016, our long-range plan involves having all the elected leadership trained in missional approach of church growth and evangelism, as found in the book Reclaiming the Great Commission.  All leadership should participate in this workshop, and all interested members are invited to participate, as well.

Over the next five years (and perhaps longer), this workshop will be offered annually.

Below is a description from the original workshop series.  For more information or to sign up, please contact the church office at 610-621-5770 or office@sprucc.org.

Wine Tasting, Beer Tasting, and Dessert Tasting - Original Workshops

The Reclaiming the Great Commission study groups took place off site in individual members' houses during 2014.  We studied sections of this book over the course of three study sessions.  A fourth session was offered with the pastor for those who would like to discuss one or more of the sessions that they missed.

          Part 1 of 3 - Tuesday, June 3 from 6:30-8:30pm - with wine tasting

          Part 2 of 3 - Tuesday, July 1 from 6:30-8:30pm - with refreshments

          Part 3 of 3 - Tuesday, September 2 from 6:30-8:30pm - with beer tasting & dessert tasting

Review - Tuesday, September 30 from 6:30-8:30pm - St. Paul's UCC Conference Room

This book explores how churches can live out The Great Commission (found in Matthew 28:19-20) and The Great Commandment (found in Matthew 22:34-40).

This book provides an overall philosophy of effective long-range, holistic evangelism and on-going church growth - both spiritual and numeric growth.  This book discusses not just evangelism specific programs of the church, but how all programming effects church growth or decline.
This book study is open to all members of St. Paul’s UCC, as well as interested non-members.  This study will be geared toward adults.  Consistory members were especially encouraged to participate.  Additional information can be found in the 2014 June and July newsletters, and by contacting the church office at office@sprucc.org.
